Description
India's first struggle of Independence of 1857 is a glorious chapter in the nation's history. The saga of its warriors is a perpetual source of inspiration for Indian people. Besides well-known figures of this struggle, there were thousands of unknown martyrs who blazed a trail of bravery and courage before their supreme sacrifice. These includes Iswari Pandey Maulavi Liyakat Ali, Shahmal, Sadat Khan and Jagatseth Ramjidas Gurwale. The author has done a commendable exercise of going through historical texts, folk lore and archival records and presented the true tales of bravery and sacrifice of those less known martyrs.
