It is a collection of five folk tales of Bengal meant for children of 9 - 12 age group. Bengali literature has a rich storehouse of folklore and fairy tales, a representative sample of which can be had from this book.
Although the book was originally written in Hindi by Ashis Sanyal, the author, being a Bengali, has rendered these stories in his mother tongue. Hence this may not be treated as a work of translation.
