The plateau region of Chhotanagpur has been rich in forest wealth and minerals. The natural wealth here has always attracted people. Because of this, the clutches of the exploiters of the outside society tightened so much that the life of the tribal people living in this area became difficult. It was against this background that Birsa Munda lit the torch of social revolution at the end of the nineteenth century, which forced the then-British government to take steps to get rid of the exploitation of the tribal people. The author of the book, Anuj Kumar Dhan, was a member of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Standing Committee of the University Grants Commission. An educationist, Mr. Dhan was also the Vice Chancellor of several universities and a member of the Union Public Service Commission.
