The Chamaparan struggle forms an important chapter in India's non-violent war of independence. While D. g. Tendulkar's Mahatma series in eight volumes is a panorama of the Gandhian era, this slender book by him is a close-up of the earliest phase of the struggle. The scene is laid in the district of Champaran in North Bihar. The year 2017 marks the centenary year of Champaran Satyagraha. To commemorate it, Publications Division, in collaboration with National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi has restored this heritage title from its first edition published in 1957.
